Hunting Whitetail Deer at the Solitude is an experience you won’t soon forget. You will be given the options to hunt these awesome animals from trees, ground blinds, or spot and stalk. You will have the option to hunt
Whitetail Deer on the Belle Fourche River bottom beneath Devils Tower or along the red
rock canyons that set deep into the flat agriculture fields, planted with Alfalfa, Wheat, Barley, and even some Food Plots. In the evenings the
whitetails pour into the fields by the dozens. If you set up with the intentions of observing first, and then moving in for the kill, then you will fair well. The canyons only allow the deer to enter and exit from certain points, which funnels them down nicely. You will have the option to move as much as you want, and to hunt the deer you’ve chosen, however you’d like.
Another option is to hunt the Belle Fourche River bottom out of cottonwood trees or ground blinds, intercepting bucks as they walk to their favorite Alfalfa field. The Devils Tower National
Park provides a perfect sanctuary for the deer to grow old in, but they have to leave it to eat in the protein rich Alfalfa fields that line the banks of the river. You will literally be able to watch crazy people climb up and down Devils Tower while waiting on that big buck. Wait till you see the really crazy one’s coming down in the dark with nothing but a headlamp on. Hunting this area is one memory you’ll never forget. |

The Solitude is proud to be Wyoming’s first primitive weapons only hunting ranch. We believed along time ago that if we wanted mature animals, and didn’t want to over kill our properties, we needed to make the playing field as fair as possible. Judging from past seasons, our program has worked very well. Why wouldn’t you want to hunt at a place that truly cares about the maturity of the animals they hunt? We’ve learned from our own ventures, using outfitters that care only about price, and how many hunters they can run through in a season, have a short business life. We have a solid management program that allows hunters to take the right amount of mature animals off of the properties that make up 30,000 huntable acres. There are very few outfitters that can compete with that kind of acreage.
Your hunt will begin when you check in at the rustic looking Hulett Motel, where you will take care of any paper work, tags, and meet up with your guide. Our guides will be available to go over property boundaries, hunt strategies, tree-stand set up, blind set up, pick up and drop off at hunting locations, and will lend a hand in field dressing. Your trophy will age nicely in our walk-in cooler and walk-in freezer. All hunters will be responsible for game care, and meat processing, as well as taxidermy.

HOW WE HUNT:
All hunts are
semi-guided, meaning we will take you out show you all the
ranch boundaries, give you all the knowledge we have
learned on the animals, their travel patterns, feeding
areas, waterholes, bedding areas and roost trees etc. We
will then show you how and where we believe you should set
up, but the ultimate decision on how and what to do will
be yours. Once you decide on how you want to set up we
will give you the help necessary to accomplish this. We
travel our 30,000 acres using 4wd vehicles, ATVs and on
foot. We hunt from blinds, tree stands or you can spot and
stalk or still hunt, again the choice is yours. |
